Reward Mechanism Design

The Starpower network is designed to create an efficient, resilient, and decentralized energy ecosystem by leveraging user participation in energy management. Our incentive mechanism gradually transitions from Proof of Connectivity (PoCn) to Proof of Response (PoR) through three distinct stages. These stages ensure that users are rewarded for their contributions to the network, fostering a robust and scalable infrastructure for energy devices.

According to Starpower's economic model, $Star incentives are distributed on a weekly basis. Both the Basic Connected Incentive (based on Proof of Connectivity) and the Connected Power Incentive (based on Proof of Capacity) are allocated weekly. The rewards for each period are calculated based on the device's effective connectivity reports and effective power usage over the entire week. In the first phase, only the Basic Connected Incentive is activated.

Data Collection and Verification

Starpower-connected devices report valid data every five minutes. This data needs to be verified to confirm its authenticity and reliability. Only after this data is confirmed can it be included in the effective reports for reward calculation. Because data collection and verification take time, distributing rewards on a weekly basis ensures data accuracy and fairness.

Proof of Connectivity (PoCn)

Objective: Rapid user and node accumulation.Mechanism:

  • Users prove the number of devices connected to the Starpower network by registering and keeping them online.

  • Incentives are provided solely based on maintaining an active connection to the network.

Benefits:

  1. Network Growth: Accelerates the growth of the network by incentivizing new users to join and connect their devices.

  2. Stability: Ensures a stable and widespread base of connected devices, creating a strong foundation for subsequent phases.

Proof of Capacity (PoC)

Objective: Encourage users to contribute their energy generation, consumption, or storage capacity.Mechanism:

  • Users submit evidence of their energy capacity, such as the capacity of their storage devices, generation units, or consumption data.

  • Devices must stay online and provide verified capacity proof to participate in demand response activities.

Benefits:

  1. Resource Mobilization: Harnesses the collective energy resources of the network, enhancing overall capacity.

  2. Engagement: Deepens user engagement by involving them in capacity proof and rewarding their contributions.

Proof of Response (PoR)

Objective: Optimize energy supply and demand through responsive actions.Mechanism:

  • Users provide energy supply or demand response within a specified time frame when a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) signal is issued.

  • Additional incentives are awarded based on the actual participation and responsiveness of users.

Benefits:

  1. Demand Response: Enables real-time demand response, balancing supply and demand efficiently.

  2. Enhanced Incentives: Rewards users for active participation, encouraging a more dynamic and responsive network.
